Transporting a turtle through the summer

In summer, you can transport turtles, terrestrial or semi-aquatic in cardboard or plastic boxes. Be sure to adhere to the rules of transportation:

  • If the turtle is able to escape, be sure that the container or box is securely sealed.
  • Make sure the carrier is kept clear of sunlight or drafts in order to avoid overcooling or heating the reptile.
  • The box should be ventilated. The holes should be located on the sides of the box or its lid.
  • If the air temperature is higher than 28 degrees Celsius the best option is to place an unsoaked cloth in the container.
  • The turtle’s carrier shouldn’t be too small or too large for the turtle.
